ELMHURST, Illinois; July 12, 2022 — Elmhurst Brewing Company is excited to introduce its new head chef, Alex Rubenic, an accomplished chef with a broad range of cuisine knowledge, and a passion for craft beer.
“We are extremely excited to have a chef of Alex’s caliber lead our brewpub’s menu creation and our kitchen team, to deliver different yet tasty options that will appeal to both craft beer lovers, and food lovers,” said Elmhurst Brewing owners, Frazer Donaldson and Pete Dolan.
Chef Alex, 36, has a bachelor’s degree from the prestigious Johnson & Wales University in Food Service Management, and has cooked in Germany, Miami, Denver and Chicago in his career.
He was a Sous Chef at a “top 100 craft beer bar in America“, he worked for a famous Michelin starred and James Beard Award-winning Chef in Chicago, and more recently he was Sous Chef at a 4-star, 4-diamond, “top 12 Hotel in Chicago”.
As part of his interview process, Alex made multiple appetizers and entrees in EBC’s kitchen for the management team to try, all of which were delicious and unique, fitting EBC’s “upscale pub food” model.
Prior to his cooking and kitchen management career, Chef Alex spent 9 years in the United States Air Force Auxiliary. He and his girlfriend live in Oak Park; she is the GM of a highly-rated restaurant in Oak Brook.
“Being head chef at Elmhurst Brewing marries my two passions: conceiving of and creating exceptional dishes made from natural and exciting ingredients; and delicious craft beer.” He added, “and EBC’s head brewer, Cam, makes amazing beer!”
